Ann Massey is from the DMV (DC/MD/VA) and moved to Austin, TX in 2012, and to Arlington in March of 2021, where she is continuing her 22 years of Pilates training with her current mentor. Emily Wills, owner and creator of Century Pilates Instructor Training Program. Ann’s journey into Health and Wellness education began during her time at the University of Maryland where she received her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics, Honors College, and finished Cum Laude. Ann continued with an Internship at the National Institute of Health in Pediatric & Adult Oncology and HIV/AIDS clinical research.
After her second childbirth, Ann was introduced to Clinical Pilates by Sarah Showan, a physiotherapist, for her pronounced back pain. She continued her Pilates, training with Bonnie Turner, 3rd gen Power Pilates, where she was introduced to the Reformer. During this time Ann was diagnosed with multiple neural tube defects, secondary to a genetic disorder, after multiple surgeries (back, spinal cord, brain and cranial cervical fusion, etc.) and several years of daily physical therapy, she returned to Pilates training at the encouragement of her Physical therapist. Amy Hatzis, 3rd generation Power Pilates bravely took her on, and she has never looked back or returned to a wheelchair.
Upon moving to Austin, she continued her personal training with Vicki Henderson, 2nd generation owner of Body Springs a Power Pilates School and Colette Simmons 3rd generation Power Pilates, Sarah Allergi, 2nd generation Lolita San Miguel and owner of Pilates Island, and Jasmine Sharpe founder of The Sharpe Method and designer of the Sharpe Reformer and Erin Sossamon, Basi Pilates certified.
Ann comes from a variety of Pilates backgrounds and is pursuing her very first Comprehensive Classical Pilates Certification at Century Pilates in Arlington, TX. When you train under Ann’s guidance, she hopes you learn something new every time that drives you deeper into having control over your body.
Ann has two daughters Jacqueline (23) and Kathrine (21), and lives in Downtown Arlington with her husband, and 2 Boxers, Mac Tullamore, and Jameson. Ann enjoys cooking, travel, and has an obsession with stationary.
